The building companies at Hobsonville Point have just released a range of new homes on Hobsonville Point Road, the community's high street.

Hobsonvile Point Road has been designed as a 'spine' road, based on other much loved streets like Richmond and Remuera Roads. It will be lined with homes and small businesses and dotted with pockets of neighbourhood shops. The construction of the road will be complete by mid 2015.

The homes underway now on Hobsonville Point Road offer Aucklanders a more urban lifestyle than has been previously achievable in the suburbs. The homes will be within easy walking distance of cafés, shops, public transport, schools and parks.

There is a trend in the world's cities to streamline life by giving up large, high maintenance properties in favour of smaller properties located closer to shops, services and jobs. Many people are also attracted to the vibrancy created by more dense development. These homes answer that need at Hobsonville Point.

The majority of the homes along Hobsonville Point Road will be terraces ranging from two to four storeys in height. Terraced homes offer value for money because they use less land. Their height allows for better views. Walks-ups will also be available. New to New Zealand but popular overseas, walk-ups combine two homes in one building.

The ground floor is a one or two bedroom home, and there is a separate larger home on the upper level/s. Living in the street level home can be compared to having an apartment on the ground, while the upstairs home benefits from the views elevation brings. Both offer an easy-care, low maintenance lifestyle. A small number of apartments are also available in boutique buildings of five or six.

Some of the terraced homes incorporate a flexible space at street level which can be used as the premises for a small business.
