A Hobsonville Point building company has topped a national survey that measures customer satisfaction.

Classic Builders achieved higher accolades than any other large New Zealand building company in a report on new house owners’ customer satisfaction levels.

The recently-released document, from independent industry research company BRANZ, gathered information from almost 650 new house owners during 2013. Customers were asked to rate a range of factors including their builders’ workmanship and willingness to address any issues.

Classic Builders, which is involved in several Hobsonville Point projects, was singled out for its excellent after-sales service and high levels of customer satisfaction. The company’s customers were also deemed most likely to recommend their builder to others.

Classic Builders directors Peter Cooney and Matt Lagerberg today described the report’s findings as “rewarding but not surprising”.

Mr Cooney says every Classic Builders customer receives a ‘Classic Care” guarantee that promises exemplary service from first contact till long after the house is finished.

“People place a lot of trust in us when they choose to build a house with us,” he says. “The least we can do is look after them exceptionally well every step of the way.”

Fellow director Matt Lagerberg says the Classic Care approach includes regular, ongoing contact with every homeowner for years after the home is completed.

“It’s a pretty unique idea in our industry and it’s a large part of the reason we have so much repeat custom,” Mr Lagerberg says. “A lot of people have built with us three or four times.”

Classic Builders is currently building private homes and a $75 million retirement village development at Hobsonville Point. In the last year, the company has built about 350 houses throughout New Zealand and has completed more than 2500 houses since its inception in 1996.
