Following on from the hugely successful Winterfest On The Point events of 2019 and 2020, the Hobsonville Point Residents Society decided to do something a little different to celebrate Mid-Winter in 2021.

The late afternoon rain wasn't going to get in the way of the inaugural Mid-Winter Glow in the Dark Silent Disco held at Chichester Cottage, and the hundreds of residents who adorned their best neon and fairylit outfits certainly partied like it was 1999.  The team at Papaya Stories provided the stage for the community to dance as if no one was watching, and in (almost) silence, the outdoor disco was lit up with UV lights and glowsticks under the night's sky.

As in previous years, the community then paraded down the coastal walkway with dancing and singing.  It truly was a sight to be seen as hundreds of illuminated headphones danced in the darkness down to the wharf.

And the fun didn't stop there, with the Silent Disco continuing into the night alongside the bustling Mid-Winter Food Truck Night taking place at Catalina Bay.  With the support of the Hobsonville Point Resident's Society, the team at The Food Truck Collective and Catalina Bay Farmers Market produced another fantastic evening of feasts, fun, and family. Lee Gray Music provided the eclectic vibes and the food trucks in attendance didn't disappoint with the usual flavours provided from this ever-increasing food scene.

One of the challenges with trying to plan events in the middle of the winter is the weather, and the weather was certainly on our side this time with thousands flocking down to the Catalina Bay area to once again support this fantastic event.
