Hobsonville Point’s newest café is open for business, with plenty on offer to cater for the area’s youngest residents.
Roberts Café is located on the ground floor of the Brickworks Apartment building on De Havilland Road. It offers counter food in addition to kids and adult menus, a menu catering to special dietary requirements (such as Paleo and Gluten Free) and a generous children’s activity area.
Operations Manager, Hannah Doughty, says the Roberts chain, which has another store in Millwater and is soon to open a third in Tauranga, started late last year after its owner struggled to find a café where he felt comfortable taking his two young daughters.
"He wanted somewhere that families enjoy taking their children so that’s what Roberts is all about. We make all the food on our kids menu, including our range of baby food, we have the children’s activity area and we have a story telling hour in the café every morning.”
Roberts also donates 50c from every coffee sold to a children’s or family charity, with a new charity selected every three months. It is currently open from 6:30am to 6pm seven days a week and plans to extend its hours to offer dinner this summer.
