New Zealand moved to Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm on 27 April. With construction confirmed as a permitted activity under Alert Level 3, we will now begin reopening construction sites at Hobsonville Point.
You may have noticed some employees at sites between Monday 20 April and Tuesday 28 April. They have been performing site health, safety and security checks. These are to ensure we are keeping workers and those in the area safe, and were considered an essential service under Alert Level 4. Builders may also have been on site to do other preparation work. This is in line with Government advice that businesses could access workplaces to prepare for restarting work under Alert Level 3.
You may notice activities on our sites more than before, especially if you’re still at home during this time. We will work to minimise disruption as much as possible and thank you for your patience.
The wellbeing of our people and the Hobsonville Point community is our priority. All construction and site workers working near your home will be following strict new rules to keep themselves, and you, safe from Covid-19. These rules will comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Ministry of Health guidelines. Kāinga Ora has an audit process in place to ensure contractors are following these guidelines.
We’ve closed our Catalina Bay HQ and the Hobsonville Point Information Centre while Alert Level 3 restrictions are in place, but our team is still working and available to answer any questions you might have about Hobsonville Point. You can get in touch by:

No, playgrounds remain closed during Alert Level 3. So long as you and your kids are well and not in self-isolation, you can still take them for a walk or bike through our local parks to stretch their legs, as long as you all maintain a two metre distance from others outside your ‘bubble’. Keep an eye on kids to discourage them from touching surfaces such as handrails.
Yes, if you’re well and not in self-isolation; but please take care to maintain at least a two metre distance from other visitors.
Yes, but again, maintain at least a two metre distance from other dog walkers. Auckland Council has recommended that you keep your dog on a lead even in off-leash areas, to avoid potentially coming into close contact with someone else when retrieving your dog.
Yes, however where possible please take your rubbish home with you.
