Clare Bliss brings new meaning to the phrase ‘working from home.’ Originally from Nottinghamshire in the UK, Clare took on a part-time assistant role at the Hobsonville Point Information Centre in February of this year. It’s early days yet, but Clare says that she’s loving her new role and being a part of the Hobsonville Point story, the place she now calls home.
Why did you move to Hobsonville Point?
I moved to New Zealand in 2016 with my husband and then six-year-old daughter, Evie. We initially lived in the Bays, but I couldn’t get settled and was incredibly homesick. My husband suggested moving to Hobsonville Point. From the moment we moved here, I knew this was home. This is such a friendly and diverse community, and there’s always plenty to do and see.
What’s the best part about living at Hobsonville Point?
Hobsonville Point was designed to be walkable. Everything we need is close by - the local primary school, the Countdown, our GP, the Farmers Market. When we moved here, we had two cars. Now we just have one, and it rarely leaves the driveway.
You’re a few weeks into your new role at the Information Centre, how’s it going?
I’m really enjoying it. I’m so passionate about my community and what Hobsonville Point has to offer, so when the position came up, I took it. HLC is a great company and I feel so lucky to be working with them.
What are some of the benefits of visiting the Information Centre?
For people considering buying a house here, we have lots of resources on hand to help them learn about the development and the community, including a model of the township, up to date price lists and the addresses and opening hours for the various showhomes. We also stock a really handy map of the coastal walkway for visitors to the area, which includes details all of the cafés, parks, playgrounds and public art along the way. And if you’re interested in Hobsonville Point’s fascinating aviation history, we’ve got that covered too.
When’s the best time to visit?
Anytime. It’s always busy here at the Information Centre, especially on weekends, but there’s always someone here who is happy to answer questions. If you’d like to book in some dedicated time with one of us for a more in-depth chat, use the form below to select a time that suits.
Our information centre at 1 Hasting Street is open daily from 10am-4pm. Book an appointment with our information centre manager, who can give you an overview of the different neighbourhoods and builder partners, and answer any questions.
