There are loads of fun events scheduled to celebrate the opening, including artists’ workshops, kids’ activities, and plenty of ice cream and coffee stops along the trail. Plus, the popular Catalina Bay Farmers Market will be hosting their 10 year anniversary celebration on the waterfront. Located alongside cafes, restaurants and the Little Creatures microbrewery, it’s the perfect pitstop for hungry art lovers.

Richard Didsbury was a Director of HLC (now part of Kāinga Ora) for nine years and has had a distinguished career in property. His passion for enriching the public realm has resulted in projects which have redefined communities such as Hobsonville Point and Matakana Village, and his support for artists and architecture is highlighted at the Brick Bay Wines and Sculpture Trail, and now at the Didsbury Art Trail in Hobsonville Point.

The walk is 5km of mostly flat, easy terrain. You can choose to do the whole loop, or just part of it. There are points of interest, food, drinks and activities spaced the whole way round. There’s also a downloadable map to help you plan your day - download it here
Absolutely! There will be plenty of activities and stops to keep the kids interested, and the walk connects a number of parks, including Harrier Point playground on Launch Road (featuring a giant bucket swing and flying fox overlooking the water), and the award-winning Hobsonville Point playground on Buckley Avenue. The walk is pram, cycle and scooter-friendly for little ones.
Yes. Sustainability is very important to us at Hobsonville Point, and we’ll be working hard to minimise the amount of waste going to landfill. Please bring your reusable water bottles and coffee cups.
Sure thing. Just remember your leash - there are some important bird breeding grounds along the trail. There are a few dedicated doggy poo bag bins around the walkway, and water bowls at the fenced dog park and usually by the Farmers Market.
Yes. Some of the trail is boardwalk, some footpath, and the rest is reasonably flat, graded gravel. There are disabled parking and toilets at Catalina Bay.
Yes, there will be plenty of portable toilets all around the loop.
